The Comstock Family Christmas 2009

'Twas the night before Christmas and the Comstock family finally decided to sit down and write a Christmas letter and send it by e-mail....better than nothing at all, right?

Bob is a hunter with a bad knee, but goes hunting with friends whenever he can.

Justine is a typist and a little less of a taxi cab driver.We now have 3 cars and 4 drivers.

Shelley is busy with Lexi, Taylor and Daniel with a baby on the way in July.

Tara is a freshman at MCC and is enjoying saving her money by living at home.

Jennica is a junior at KHS and will be head drum major next year.

Erica is a freshman at KHS and loved being on color guard this year.

Sierra is a 7th grader at KMS and enjoys playing saxophone in the band.

We pray that 2010 brings a year of peace and happiness to all of us. We are grateful for all our family and friends who bring us joy and love.

EASY CINNAMON ROLLS

1/3 cup sugar
3 TBSP yeast
1/2 cup oil
1 1/4 cups warm water

Add together in mixer and let stand for 5 minutes to allow yeast to grow.

Add 2 beaten eggs to yeast mixture.

Then add:
1 1/2 tsp salt
5 1/4 cups flour

Mix/knead dough for 3-5 minutes.

Roll on floured surface into rectangular shape about 1/4" thick.

Combine:
1/4 cup melted margarine/butter
1 1/2 TBSP cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts or raisins

Spread on dough and roll up carefully. Cut in 1" slices with string (dental floss works great!) or knife. Place in greased pan and cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 10 minutes. Turn oven on to 425 degrees. (When your oven is hot & ready, the rolls should be ready.)

Take off plastic wrap and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Combine:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup hot water
1 tsp margarine/butter
1 tsp vanilla.

Mix well and spread over rolls. YUMMY!!!!

What I learned from my Coupon Class:

1. You can save 50% or more by using coupons when the item is on sale and before the coupon expires. Sometimes you can get an item for free so why not try a new product if you get it for $0.00?

2. Stores run on a 12-week ad cycle. (The items you have coupons for will eventually go on sale at least once every four months so just wait and be patient to buy it when it's on sale.)

3. Each household can have 5 subscriptions to the Sunday paper; i.e. You can clip 5 brownie mix coupons and buy 5 brownie mixes on sale with your 5 coupons.

4. General Mills coupons are like gold as they don't come out very often, but they are full of great coupons. Don't feel guilty about buying brand name cereals on sale with your coupon. You will find this is cheaper than buying the off brand cereal.

5. On Wednesday mornings, go through your coupons and store ads, make your grocery list, cut out your coupons and then shop so the store has what you want in stock and they haven't run out yet. Avoid weekend shopping because of the crowds.

6. Separate your items at the cash register and check-out several times if needed; i.e. Buy your 20 items on sale in one checkout at the register and if that gives you a coupon at the register then use that coupon on the rest of your groceries right then and there.

7. Shop one store a week for their ads or it will take too much of your time in one day to shop more than one store.

8. Keep your coupons 6 months at a time.

9. Print coupons off various internet sites for items you want/need if you have extra time to surf the net.

I like the song "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again" so I added it to my blog music list; however, my mother called me up and asked "Who died?" so I deleted that song from my blog. However, I still like the song. . .and always will.
